About the Provider
Dr. Janet Rowe always knew that working in medicine and being a physician were her callings. After earning her medical degree, she was a pediatrician for a decade, while raising a family. She then pursued advanced training in nephrology – the treatment of the kidneys. Combining the two into being a pediatric nephrologist has been her life’s work for more than a quarter century.
Pediatric Nephrology is an accredited subspecialty of nephrology, which focuses on the functioning of the kidneys – the two organs that filter about a half cup of blood every minute to remove waste and extra water to make urine. For a body to be healthy, kidneys must be healthy. Factors impacting the kidneys are obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure. Dr. Rowe believes in preventative medicine, working with her patients to develop healthy diet and exercise habits. Her practice motto is: “Eat your veggies, drink your water and be peaceful.”
Married for more than 50 years, Dr. Rowe enjoys spending time with her family and grandchildren, walking, reading historical biographies, and playing classical organ.
The goal of Kidney and Wellness Center for Children and Young Adults – and every practice of South Texas Pediatric Specialists – is to provide the most thorough treatment possible so that your child can attain optimal health.
